The system powers off, and the operator panel power-on light goes off and
remains off.
Note: To cancel the power-off operation, do not select function 08. Instead,
press any other control panel pushbutton.
This ends the procedure.
Powering On the System
Perform the following steps to power on the system rack and attached I/O drawers:
1. Open the door to the operator panel.
2. Press the power (white) pushbutton on the operator panel.
3. The operator panel power-on light starts blinking as the system is powered on. The
operator panel power-on light stops blinking and stays on when power-on is
complete.
Hot-Swappable FRUs
Note: You do not have to power off the system to remove a hot-swappable FRU from
the system rack or from I/O drawers.
The following FRUs are hot-swappable:
v Disk drives in banks C and D of an I/O drawer
v Blowers in the front of an I/O drawer
v Power supplies in an I/O drawer (if the drawer has two power supplies and only one
needs to be removed)
v Bulk power supplies in the system rack
v Blowers in the system rack
System Rack Removal and Replacement Procedures
The procedures in this section comprise the starting point for all removal procedures in
the system rack. Perform the following steps:
1. Find the location of the part you are replacing in Models S80 and S85 Locations
on page 6.
2. Find the FRU you are removing in this section and follow the procedures.
3. When you have completed the removal procedure, install the FRU by reversing the
removal procedure unless, otherwise noted.
4. After exchanging an item, refer to MAP 0410: Repair Checkout in the Diagnostic
Information for Multiple Bus Systems.
Note: It is not always necessary to power off the system to exchange a field
replaceable unit (FRU). You will be directed through a concurrent exchange, if
possible.
