4. Mark the locations and the cables attached to the SPCN card so that you can
reinstall the cables to the correct location.
5. Lift the handles and pull the card out.
Replacement
Replace in reverse order.
Note: An SPCN firmware update is required if other than the original version is on the
system. Refer to “Appendix F. Firmware Update Procedures” on page 615 for
instructions on obtaining, downloading, and installing the latest level firmware. If
a BACKUP set of diskettes exists from a prior update, these diskettes can be
used.
System Backplane Assembly
Before performing these procedures, read “Safety Notices” on page xiii.
Removal
1. Make a note of the locations of parts you remove during this procedure so that you
can reinstall them in the correct positions.
2. Power off the system (see “Powering Off and Powering On the System” on
page 492).
3. Disconnect the ac power cord.
4. Remove the front and rear system covers (see “Covers” on page 494) .
Refer to “Front Electronics Cage and System Backplane Assembly” on page 552 for
system backplane assembly parts and perform the following steps from the front of the
system.
5. Disconnect the operator panel cable.
6. Loosen the two thumbscrews on the operator panel and swing out the operator
panel assembly.
7. Disconnect the cables from the operator (op) panel assembly.
8. Remove the operator panel assembly from the frame.
9. Remove the upper and lower front cage EMC shields.
10. Remove the upper front and right brackets from the front cage.
11. Remove the screws that hold the cage to the frame. These screws are on the left
side and bottom of the front cage.
12. Mark the processor cards, processor regulator cards, memory cards, regulator
cards, and filler cards and their locations in the front cage so you can return the
cards to their correct location during reassembly.
13. Remove the processor cards, processor regulator cards, memory cards, regulator
cards, and filler cards from the front cage.
Refer to “Front Electronics Cage and System Backplane Assembly” on page 552 and
perform the following steps from the rear of the system.
