Appendix F. Firmware Update Procedures
This section applies to all models S80 and S85s. Specific system firmware and service
processor firmware supports specific machine types and models.
Determining the Firmware Levels
If the server is in operation, the installed firmware versions can be determined using
AIX. If the server is about to be initialized, the installed firmware versions can be
determined by using the System Management Services utilities for System Firmware
levels and Service Processor menus for Service Processor firmware levels.
Use the following procedure to determine your firmware level:
1. At an AIX command prompt on your system, type the following command:
lscfg -vp | grep -p alterable
This command produces a system configuration report similar to one of the
following:

ROM Level.(alterable).......19990629 (B) 19990621 (A) <= System FW Levels
Version.....................RS6K
System Info Specific.(YL)...P2

The ROM level lines list the level numbers of the system and service processor
(SvP) firmware installed. In these examples, the system was booted from type B,
