Installing the frame
This topic contains the procedure to install the appliance frame.
About this task
This task lists the steps to physically install the AP1 frame at the customer site.
Note: Do not remove the server retention screws. The screws must be removed
only to perform service on the server.
Procedure
Perform the following steps to install the AP1 frame.
1. Maneuver the TS7650 AP1 frame into the designated location.
See the precautions in “Frame safety” on page xv before you begin the
installation process.
Note: If the frame is installed on a raised floor, ensure that the hole cutout in
the floor is located under the rear of the frame.
2. Use the 43-mm wrench (P/N 31L8313) supplied with the TS7650 to make the
following adjustments to the frame leveling pads:
a. Loosen the locknuts on the leveling pads.
b. Adjust the height of the leveling pads until the frame is approximately level
and parallel to the floor, and the casters are off the floor.
This adjustment can be accomplished with one full turn of the leveling pad
after it is in contact with floor.
c. Tighten the locknuts on the leveling pads by moving the locknuts up to
bottom of the frame.
3. If the frame is in its final location (that is, if the customer does not anticipate
needing to move it again), remove the shipping components securing the server
or servers to the frame by performing the following steps:
CAUTION:
Failure to remove the hardware discussed in steps 3a through 3d on page 25
can result in damage to the server sliding mechanisms when attempting to
move the server to the service position.
a. Remove the four retention screws securing Server A to the shipping
brackets mounted to the frame as shown in Figure 11 on page 25.
