12-4-7 Restoring the C drive to the initial status (status that the C drive has been
updated previously.)
WindowsXP provides a write protect function of the C drive called “EWF”.
If a corrupted file is written to the C drive and this file hinder the startup, you can restore the C drive

values set in the C drive or user files saved into the C drive.
c Turn OFF the power, and turn it ON again. Press the F8 key on the keyboard.
d The startup option menu will appear.
Select [Enhanced Write Filter Restore Mode (restore one level)] and press the Enter key.
e Next, the startup system selection menu will appear.
Select [Microsoft WindowsXP Embedded] and press the Enter key.
f The message, "Enhanced Write Filter Restore Mode", will appear.
Select [Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1) - current level 1], and then press the Enter key and F2 key
in that order to complete the restoration operation.
