â–  Locate the emergency power-off switch for the room in which you are working
so that if an electrical accident occurs, you can quickly turn off the power.
â–  Make sure that grounding surfaces are cleaned and brought to a bright finish
before grounding connections are made.
â–  Do not work alone if potentially hazardous conditions exist anywhere in your
workspace.
â–  Never assume that power is disconnected from a circuit. Always check the circuit
before starting to work.
â–  Carefully look for possible hazards in your work area, such as moist floors,
ungrounded power extension cords, and missing safety grounds.
â–  Operate the EX-series switch within marked electrical ratings and product usage
instructions.
â–  To ensure that the EX-series switch and peripheral equipment function safely
and correctly, use the cables and connectors specified for the attached peripheral
equipment, and make certain they are in good condition.
You can remove and replace many switch components without powering off or
disconnecting power to the switch, as detailed elsewhere in the hardware
documentation for this product. Never install equipment if it appears damaged.

CAUTION: For switches with AC power supplies, an external surge protective device
(SPD) must be used at the AC power source.
The following electrical safety guidelines apply to AC-powered switches:
â–  AC-powered switches are shipped with a three-wire electrical cord with a
grounding-type plug that fits only a grounding-type power outlet. Do not
circumvent this safety feature. Equipment grounding should comply with local
and national electrical codes.
â–  You must provide an external certified circuit breaker rated minimum 15 A in
the building installation.
â–  The power cord serves as the main disconnecting device. The socket outlet must
be near the switch and be easily accessible.
