Replacing the engine oil and oil filter
 Open the engine hood (page 112).
Draining the engine oil
 Remove the oil drain plug (1) and let the engine oil drain into
the oil drain pan. Install the oil drain plug using a new seal.
Replacing the oil filter
 Place an oil drain pan under the oil filter and remove the oil filter
(1) with a filter wrench by turning it anticlockwise.
 Coat the sealing ring of the new oil filter with engine oil.
 Install and tighten the oil filter by hand. Do not use the filter
wrench.
The engine oil change must be carried out while the engine is warm.
Caution: the engine oil and the oil filter are very hot → risk of scalding!
Place an oil pan with a capacity of about 5 l under the engine oil drain. The engine oil should not be
allowed to seep into the earth and it must be discarded like the oil filter in accordance with the appli
-
cable environment protection regulations.
