onroadswiththedifferentiallockengaged.

Thedifferentiallockpedalislocatedontheleft-handfoot
platform(1)onHSTmodelsandontheright-handfoot
platform(2)ongearmodels.Thedifferentiallockisused
toobtainadditionaltractioninwetorloosesoil.
Whenthedifferentiallockpedalisdepressed,both-
naldrivepiniongearshaftsarelockedtogether,prevent-
ingonewheelfromrotatingindependentlyoftheother.
Wheneveronewheelbeginstoslipinwetorloosesoil,
usethelocktoobtainadditionaltractionfromtheoppo-
sitewheel.
Tooperatethedifferentiallock,depressandholdthe
pedaldownuntilthelockispositivelyengaged.Itisbest
toengagethelockwhilethewheelsareturningslowlyto
minimizeshockloadstothedriveline.Ifawheelspinsat
highspeed,suchasonice,reduceenginespeedtoidle
beforeengagingthelockordamagemayresult.Release
thepedaltodisengagethedifferentiallock.
NOTE:Insomeinstances,thelockmayremainengaged
afterthepedalisreleased.Thiscanoccurifonerear
wheelisturningatafasterspeedthantheother.Thelock
canbedisengagedinoneoftwowaysifthisoccurs:

Decreasethedrawbarpullbyraisingordisengagingthe
implementsothatneitherwheeltendstoslip.
•
Depresstheclutchpedalandrapidlyapplyandrelease
alightbrakingloadtothewheelwithlesstraction.
