Alwayssitintheoperator'sseatwiththepark-
ingbrakeengagedwhenattemptingtostart
theengine.Neverattempttostarttheengine
whilestandingbesidethemachine.
Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorse-
riousinjury.

Thekeyswitch(1)allowsactivationofthestartermotor
andfueldeliveryonlywhen:
·Shuttlelever(2)isintheneutralposition.
·PTOswitch(3)isinthe"OFF"position.
·MidPTOlever(4)isinthe"OFF"position(ifequipped)
·ClutchPedal(5)isdepressed.
NOTE:Althoughthetractorcanbestartedwiththeop-
eratoroutoftheseat,thispracticeisnotrecommended.
However,analarmwillsoundiftheparkbrakeisnoten-
gaged,indicatingthattheoperatorneedstoengagethe
parkbrake.
1.Pushthehandthrottlelever(6)forwardtoaboutthe
middleposition.
2.Turnthekeyswitchtothemiddle"ON"positionand
checkiftheengineoilpressure,batterychargeand
coldstartindicatorlightsareilluminated..
3.Waituntilthecoldstartindicatorlightgoesoff(approx-
imatelytenseconds).
4.Fullyandturnthekeytotheextremerighttothe
"START"position.Assoonastheenginestarts,
releasethekeytothemiddle"ON"position.
NOTICE:Donotengagethestartingmotorcontinu-
ouslyformorethan10seconds.Doingsomaycause
startingmotorfailure.
5.Checkiftheengineoilpressureandbatterycharge
indicatorlightsareilluminated,thelightsshouldbeoff.
Ifanyoftheseindicatorlightsareilluminated,shutoff
theengineimmediatelyandcheckengineforpossible
problem.
