rect,POSITIVEtoPOSITIVE,NEGATIVEtoNEGATIVE,
orthealternatororbatterymaybedamaged.
Ifyoumustusejumpercablestostartthetractor:
1.Shieldyoureyes.
2.Connecttheredendofthejumpercabletothepositive
(+)batteryterminal(1)onthetractorandconnectthe
otherredendtothepositive(+)batteryterminal(2)on
theauxiliarybattery.
3.Connecttheblackendofthejumpercabletotheneg-
ative(-)batteryterminal(3)ontheauxiliarybattery,
thenconnecttheotherblackendtoatractorframe
groundorengineground(4).Finally,startthetractor
byfollowingthesafestartingproceduresoutlinedun-
derSee4-12.
4.Whentheenginestartsallowtheenginetoidle,and
turnonallelectricalequipment(lights,etc.)Thiswill
helpprotectthealternatorfrompossibledamagedue
tochangesinloadwhendisconnectingthejumperca-
bles.
5.Disconnectthejumpercablesinreverseorder,dis-
connecttheblackendfromthetractorframeoren-
gineground(4)thendisconnecttheotherblackend
fromthenegative(-)batteryterminal(3)ontheauxil-
iarybattery.Disconnecttheredendfromthepositive
(+)batteryterminal(2)ontheauxiliarybattery,then
removetheotherredendfromthepositive(+)battery
terminal(1)onthetractorbattery.
