ADJUSTMENT
E758
1. BLEEDING THE MAIN BRAKE VALVE FOR TRAILERS
Carry out the bleeding at operating air pressure of 730±20 kPa as follows:
1. Add the missing volume of brake fluid into the equalizing brake fluid tank up to the
maximum level.
2. Remove caps from bleeder screws (2) of trailer control valve (1) located on the RH
side of the tractor between the fuel tank and the rear half-axle.
3. Slide hoses on the screws and put the other hose ends at the bottom of a trans-
parent bowl (3) partially filled with the brake fluid. Place the bowl minimum 300
mm above the bleeder screws. The screws must be permanently under pressure
to avoid aerating of the brake system through the screw threads.
4. Loosen the bleeder screws maximum by 1/4 turn.
5. The bleeding procedure is the same as mentioned in “Caution” (see page 188).
6. Fully depress the pedal that is not blocked by the gauge and tighten the adjusting
screw.
7. Release the brake pedal and repeat the procedure, until air bubbles cease escap-
ing from the hose.
