BATTERY
Carefully read page 43
(MAINTENANCE).
WARNING
Fire hazard.
Do not handle fuel and other flammable
substances in the vicinity of the
vehicle's electrical componentry.
WARNING
Never invert the battery cables.
Connect and disconnect the battery
with the ignition switch set to “ ” to
avoid damaging the vehicle’s
componentry.
First connect the positive cable (+) and
then the negative one (–).
Disconnect in reverse order.

After the first 312 mi (500 Km) and every
2500 mi (4000 Km) or 12 months
thereafter, check the electrolyte level and
the tightness of the terminal clamps.
WARNING
Battery electrolyte fluid is toxic and
caustic. It contains sulfuric acid and
can cause burns if spilled on the skin.
Always wear protective clothes, a mask
and/or safety goggles when handling
this fluid.
If any battery fluid gets on your skin,
rinse the affected area with abundant
fresh water.
If battery fluid is spilled into your eyes,
flush with abundant water for fifteen
minutes and contact an eye specialist
immediately.
If battery fluid is swallowed
accidentally, drink abundant water or
milk. Seek medical attention
immediately and keep drinking milk of
magnesia or vegetable oil in the
meantime.
The battery gives off explosive gases.
Keep the battery well away from any
sources of ignition, such as flames,
sparks, or any heat sources.
When refilling or using the battery,
ensure the area is well ventilated and
avoid inhaling any fumes.
KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
Take care not to lean the vehicle too far,
to avoid spilling the battery fluid.
Disconnect in reverse order.
Battery fluid is corrosive.
Do not spill it, especially onto plastic
parts.

CAUTION
This vehicle is provided with a
maintenance-free battery and no
operation is necessary, excepting
occasional checks and the recharge
when required.

LONG INACTIVITY
OF THE BATTERY
If the vehicle is left unused for more than
fifteen days, the battery must be recharged
to prevent sulphation, seepage 89
(RECHARGING THE BATTERY).
In the winter or when the vehicle is left
unused, check the battery charge from
time to time to prevent deterioration
(around once a month).

If the battery is left on the
vehicle, disconnect the cables from the
terminal clamps.
