INSTALLING THE BATTERY
Carefully read page 86 (BATTERY).
" Remove the battery cover, see page 79
(REMOVING THE BATTERY COVER
).
" Place the battery in its mount.
" Connect the breather pipe.
CAUTION
Always connect the breather pipe to
prevent the sulphuric acid fumes coming
out of the pipe corroding the electrical
plant, painted surfaces, rubber parts and
gaskets.
" Connect first the positive cable (red) (+) and
then the negative one (–).
" Re-apply the special grease or vaseline to
the terminals and clamps.
" Refit the battery cover, see page 79
(REMOVING THE BATTERY COVER
).

and then the negative one (–).
" Re-apply the special grease or vaseline
to the terminals and clamps.
CAUTION
When re-installing, ease the electrical
cables into place to avoid crimping
them.
" Place the battery in its mount.
" Fit the battery cover (2).
CAUTION
Work with care. Do not damage the
snap-on tangs and matching recesses.
NOTE When refitting, make sure the two
tangs fit fully into their recesses.
" Tighten down the screws (1) securing
the battery cover (2).
" Close the glove compartment, page 46
(GLOVE COMPARTMENT).
