CHANGING THE FUSES

CAUTION
Do not repair damaged or defective
fuses.
Do not use fuses other than those
specified.
This can damage the electrical plant or
even start a fire in case of short circuit.
NOTE If a given fuse blows freqently,
there is probably a short circuit or overload
in the electrical plant. In this case contact
an aprilia Official Dealer.
If you notice failure or incorrect operation
of an electrical component, or if the engine
does not start, first check the fuses.
Proceed as follows:
" Set the ignition switch to ≈∆ to prevent
a short circuit.
" Remove the battery cover,
page 79 (REMOVING THE BATTERY
COVER ).
" Remove the battery cover, see
page 87 (REMOVING THE BATTERY) .
" Extract one fuse at a time and check
whether the filament is burnt out.
" Before replacing the blown fuse, try to
resolve the cause.
" Replace the blown fuse with one of the
same amp rating.
NOTE If you use the spare fuse, fit a
new one in its place.
" Refit the battery cover, see
page 79 (REMOVING THE BATTERY
COVER ).
" Refit the right inspection cover, see
page 79 (REMOVING THE RIGHT AND
LEFT INSPECTION COVERS).
ARRANGMENT OF THE FUSES
7.5 A fuse (1) √ Ignition keyswitch to:
√ start relay and circuit;
√ fuel level sensor and circuit;
√ horn;
√ parking lights and instrument lighting;
√ direction indicators and circuit;
√ stop light and circuit;
√ 2 stroke oil reserve sensor and
circuit;
√ engine oil pressure sensor and
circuit.
10 A fuse (2) √ Battery to ignition
keyswitch, voltage regulator.
15 A fuse (3) √ Battery to ignition
keyswitch, generator.
