4.2.1.2 FUEL
q
Always use fuel suitable for the engine. Other fuels with different specifications may damage the engine or re-
duce its power.
q
Always refuel at the end of the workday.
q
When refuelling, make sure that there is no water on the fuel drum cover and take care not to draw condensate
from the drum bottom.
q
If fuel runs out, or if the fuel filter has been replaced, it is necessary to bleed the circuit.
4.2.1.3 COOLANT
q
The coolant is used to keep the engine at the right temperature and in ideal working conditions; check the level
in the expansion tank daily and, if required, refill with coolant to the correct concentration according to the mini-
mum atmospheric temperature. For concentration, see "4.4.1 COOLANT".
q
The coolant containing antifreeze is flammable; do not use naked flames near the coolant and do not smoke
while topping up.
q
Use only Komatsu original permanent antifreeze coolant (AF-NAC), an ethylene glycol-based solution with anti-
corrosive and antifoam products compatible with aluminium radiators.
q
The use of permanent antifreeze requires only the check of the level and the periodical change of the fluid. It is
not necessary to wash the cooling circuit.
q
Use drinkable water and in any case soft water.
q
Do not use corrosion inhibitors containing soluble oil, since they damage the rubber couplings.
q
In case of doubt regarding the applicable standards for the use of coolant, contact your Komatsu Distributor, who
will supply you with exhaustive and precise information.
