GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
46
2.2.21 FALLING OBJECTS, FLYING OBJECTS AND INTRUDING OBJECTS
PREVENTION
On jobsites where there is a hazard that falling objects, flying ob-
jects, or intruding objects may hit or enter the operator's cab, con-
sider the operating conditions and install the necessary guards to
protect the operator.
q
When working in mines or quarries where there is a hazard of
falling rock, install FOPS and a front guard, and use a laminated
coating sheet on the front glass (internal side). When carrying
out the above operations, always close the front window. Al-
ways check that there is no one except the operator in the sur-
rounding area. They may be hit by falling objects or flying
objects.
q
When carrying out breaker operations, install a front guard (ma-
chines with canopy) and use a fully transparent laminated coat-
ing sheet on the front glass (internal side) (machines with cab).
Keep all the windows closed when operating and always check
that there is no one except the operator in the surrounding area.
They may be hit by flying objects.
q
The above recommendations assume that the conditions are for
standard operations, but it may be necessary to add additional
guards according to the operating conditions on the jobsite. Al-
ways contact your Komatsu distributor for advice.
In such a case, do not operate the machine without an addition-
al guard. Be sure to consult with your Komatsu distributor about
necessary guards.
