4.9 MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
4.9.1 WHEN REQUIRED
4.9.1.a CHECKING, CLEANING OR CHANGING THE AIR FILTER CARTRIDGE

Remove the air filter only after stopping the engine and do not start the engine if the air filter is open.

When compressed air is used to clean the filter, dust may get into the eyes. Wear safety goggles and a
dust mask during the cleaning operations.
Checking the cartridge
1. Open the engine hood. For further details, see para-
graph"3.2.6 ENGINE HOOD".
2. If the red piston of the filter clogging indicator (1) is visible,
clean the air filter cartridge.

Do not clean the cartridge if the red piston of the filter clog-
ging indicator (1) is not visible.

In any case, check the cartridge for clogging every 50
hours of operation.
Cleaning or changing the cartridge
1. Open the engine hood. For further details, see para-
graph"3.2.6 ENGINE HOOD".
2. Release the couplings (2) and remove the cap (3).
3. Remove the cartridge (4) and cover the air connector at the
end of the air filter body with a clean cloth or adhesive tape.
4. Clean the inside of the filter body, the cap (3) and the drain
valve (5).
