Push the upper chain section at the end of the chain sliding component upwards to
measure the chain tension X.

The lower chain section must be taut.
Chain wear is not always even, so you should repeat this measurement at differ-
ent chain positions.
Chain tension 140… 145 mm (5.51… 5.71 in)
» If the chain tension does not meet specifications:
Adjust the chain tension. ( p. 98)

Shift gear to neutral.
Check the rear sprocket and engine sprocket for wear.
» If the rear sprocket and engine sprocket are worn:
Change the rear sprocket or engine sprocket. x

The engine sprocket, rear sprocket, and chain should always be replaced
together.
