Use
‒ Do not place unused HF instruments on the patient.
‒ Store temporarily unused HF instruments in an electrically insulated container.
WARNING
Connecting accessories
Connecting accessories while the energy is on can result in injury and electric shock to the
patient, the user and/or the medical personnel.
Ensure that the energy is off before connecting accessories.
WARNING
Capacitive coupling with other surgical equipment
An accidental energy transfer between the activated HF instrument and other surgical
equipment can cause injury to the patient.
Only activate the HF instrument when it is in contact with target tissue.
WARNING
Patient burns due to conductive uids
For monopolar treatments, conductive uids like blood or saline that are in direct contact
with or in close proximity to the active monopolar instrument can transmit electric current
and heat to non-target tissue. This could cause unintended burns to the patient.
Before activating the instrument, aspirate any uids from the treatment site.
CAUTION
Power levels and activation time
The selected power level and the activation time should be as low as possible for the
intended purpose. If the power level initially is set too high or if the activation time is too long,
then this can result in thermal injury to surrounding tissue, bleeding or inadequate treatment.
‒ For appropriate power levels, refer to the section “7.4 Description of modes” on page
55.
