1. Inspect the seal.

1. Release the hand switch or foot
switch.
2. Open the instrument jaws and
inspect the progress of the seal.
3. Remove excess uids.
4. Clean and dry the instrument jaws.
5. Re-grasp the tissue.
6. Repeat the sealing process to
complete the seal.
8.6 Selecting a user-dened procedure
For information on user-dened procedures refer to the section “5.11 Procedures” on page
41.
8.7 Activation of HF output
WARNING
Unintended tissue contact
When the output of the electrosurgical generator is active, then unintended contact between
tissue and the active part of the HF instrument can cause burns to the patient, the user and
the medical personnel.
Store temporarily unused HF instruments in an electrically insulated container.
Do not place unused HF instruments on the patient.
WARNING
Foot switch pedal or hand switch
Pressing the wrong foot pedal or hand switch can result in bleeding, perforation and burns to
the patient.
Make sure to press the correct foot switch or hand switch, i.e. yellow switch for cutting
modes and blue switch for coagulation modes.
Make sure that the required foot switch pedal is assigned to the correct output socket.
WARNING
Autostart
When using Autostart for the bipolar mode BiSoftCoag, then unintended tissue contact of
the HF instrument can cause burns to the user and the patient.
When using Autostart, be aware that the output of power starts as soon as the
HF instrument is in contact with tissue.
Avoid unintended tissue contact with the HF instrument.
WARNING
Visibility of the activated HF instrument
If the surgeon looses sight of the tip of the activated HF instrument during the endoscopic
procedure, then this can result in bleeding, perforation and burns to the patient.
Make sure that the tip of the activated HF instrument is always visible in the endoscopic
image.
