Area
Area is a voltage-over-time measurement. The measurement is the area over the entire waveform or gated region expressed in
volt-seconds. The area above the common reference point is positive while the area below the common reference point is
negative.
Burst Width
This timing measurement is the duration of a burst (a series of transient events) and is measured over the entire waveform or
gated region.
Cycle Area
The cycle area is a voltage over time measurement. The measurement is the area over the first cycle in the waveform or the first
cycle in the gated region expressed in volt-seconds. The area above the common reference point is positive while the area below
the common reference point is negative.
Phase
This timing measurement is the amount of time that one waveform leads or lags another waveform. The measurement is
expressed in degrees where 360° comprise one waveform cycle.
Counter measurement setup
NOTE. This online help documents features and options available for several instrument models. Your instrument, or instrument
setup may not have some features discussed in this online help.
From the Measure or Analyze menu, select Counter > Time or Frequency, or from the Trigger A-B Sequence or Trigger Options
menu, select Counter Measurements Setup.
To use
Click the Counter button to toggle the counter on and off.
Click the A-B Trigger Time Interval button to measure time.
Click the Trigger Source Frequency button to measure frequency:
â–
Click Show Frequency to display the frequency in units of frequency (Hz).
â–
Click Show Period to display the measurement in units of time (seconds).
