Bleeding the fuel system
Bleed the fuel system in the following cases:
• After removing and fitting the fuel filter, prefilter or the fuel lines back on again
• After running the fuel tank empty
• After running the engine again, after it has been out of operation for a longer period of time
☞ Bleed the fuel system as follows:
•Fill the fuel tank
•Turn the starting key to the first position
•Wait about 5 minutes while the fuel system bleeds itself automatically
•Start the engine
If the engine runs smoothly for a while and then stops, or if it does not run smoothly:
•Stop the engine
•Bleed the fuel system again as described above
•Have this checked by authorized personnel if necessary
Water separator
Interrupt fuel supply as follows:
☞ Stop the engine.
☞ Turn ball-type cock B to the OFF mark
➥ Fuel supply is interrupted
☞ Turn ball-type cock B to the ON mark
➥ Fuel supply is open again
Check the water separator as follows:
• If the red indicator ring has risen to position C:
☞ Stop the engine.
☞ Interrupt fuel supply.
☞ Unscrew thread A
➥ The fuel/water mixture drains
➥ Wait until the indicator ring returns to the bottom of the water separator
☞ Screw thread A back on again
Thread A is fitted with a hose. Collect the fuel/water mixture as it drains with a
suitable container and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.

The fuel/water mixture must be drained directly on the fuel filter in addition.
Perform this at regular intervals according to the maintenance plan.
Proceed as follows
☞ Stop the engine.
☞ Place a suitable container underneath the filter.
☞ Unscrew screw A.
➥ The fuel/water mixture drains from the filter housing.
☞ Drain about 10 ml (0.3 US fl. oz.) of the fuel/water mixture.
