Chassis Installation
This chapter describes how to install the ASR 5500 chassis and its components.
The ASR 5500 is suitable for installation in Network Telecommunication Facilities designed for unattended
equipment operation.

Mounting Options
There are two options for mounting the chassis in a standard 19-inch equipment rack or telecommunications
cabinet:

Flush mount: In this configuration, the flanges of the mounting brackets are flush with the front of the
chassis. This is the default configuration as shipped. This method is typically used to mount the chassis
in a 4-post rack or equipment cabinet. Refer to

Mid-mount: In this configuration, the flanges of the mounting brackets are recessed from the front of
the chassis. To do this, the mounting brackets must be removed and reinstalled toward the middle of the
chassis. This method is typically used to mount the chassis in a two-post rack. Refer to
