With
the
engine cold, place
No.
1 (front) cylinder
on
top dead center (TDC)
of
the firing stroke using
the
flywheel access hole, Figure 46,
to
indicate
TDC. (The arrow on the casing
will
be
aligned
with the
·o·
timing mark on
the
flywheel).
On
the
firing stroke both valves
of
No.
I cylinder
will
be
closed. In this condition, check and adjust
the following valves:
No.
1 Inlet
No.
1 Exhaust
No. 3 Inlet
No.
2 Exhaust
Use
a feeler gauge, Figure 47,
to
check
the
clear-
ance between the valve stem
and
the rocker arm.
Tum
the rocker
ann
screw to adjust
the
cleanmce.
Rotate lhe engine one complete revolution until
No.
1 cylinder
is
on TDC
of
the
exhaust stroke.
(The valves
of
No.
1 cylinder will
both
be
open
with the inlet opening and the exhaust closing).
Check and adjust the remaining valves,
as
follows:

The correct valve clearance is:
Inlet
0.014
- 0.016 in. (0.36 - 0.41 mm)
Exhaust 0.017 - 0.019 in. (0.43 -
0~48
mm)
Replace the rocker cover, using a new gasket,
if
necessary.

Filter/Sediment
Separator
Close the fuel tank shut-off valve, figure 48, by
turning in a clockwise direction.
Unscrew the
central
retaining
bolls.

move the filter clement
and
gla~s
bowl
and
discard
the
filter clement.
Using clean fuel,
wash
out the filler bowl and the
glass bowl on the sediment separator. Install a
new
filter
clement and
gaskel~
and re-install the
bowl.
Open the fuel shut-off valve and bleed the system.
