With the oil hot, remove the drain plug, Figure

and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Replace

plug after the oil has drained.

rear axle oil is drained

transfer box bolted to the underside
of
the
rear axle housing.

filler assembly
from
the transmission and discard.
Install a new
filter and tighten
the
retaining

to
38
tbf. ft. (52 Nm).
