Safe mode
When the LPAR manager fulfills the following conditions, the LPAR manager
starts in safe mode that temporarily disables LPAR activation and saving
configuration.
When the LPAR manager starts in safe mode, LPAR manager log messages
and system logs (SEL) are output. Take measures according to their log
messages.
Note that, when the LPAR manager starts in safe mode, the LPAR migration
functionality is also disabled.
The conditions under which the LPAR manager starts in safe mode, and the
operations that are disabled in safe mode are as follows.

The NIC ports in dedicated mode
assigned to an LPAR have been changed
to shared mode since some of the NIC
ports have been specified as LPAR
manager management NIC ports.

LPARs have been changed to dedicated
mode since some NIC ports in dedicated
mode not assigned to any LPARs have
been specified as LPAR manager
management NIC ports and the number
of NIC ports in shared mode exceeds the
maximum number of NIC ports whose
scheduling modes can be set to shared
mode.
Disabled Disabled 02-20 or
higher
The KeepConfig option is enabled and the
LPAR manager cannot detect the physical
processors, memory, or PCI devices that
have been recorded in the LPAR manager
configuration.
Enabled Disabled 02-56 or
higher
You can display the safe mode status or release the safe mode by the
following operations:
