Reassembly
1. Inspect the pinion shaft bushing for wear. Replace if
required.
2. Replace all seals and worn components. Press seals
flush with the case surface using a suitable seal
driver.
3. Install the pinion shaft /bearing assembly into the
gearcase housing and retain with the snap ring.
Some tapping with a soft-faced hammer may be
required. Press the outer bearing onto the shaft
using a suitable driver. Press on the inner race only.
4. Install the input bearing into the gearcase if removed.
Verify the snap ring is installed before york shaft
installation.
5. Press the assembled york shaft onto the input
bearing and into the gearcase.
6. Assemble the ring gear and bearings if removed.
7. Install the ring gear into the left case half. Some
tapping with a soft-faced hammer may be required.
Use care to avoid damage to the seal lip on
installation.
