ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 7-7
CHARGING SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION
The charging system consists of a generator, regulatorlrectifier, and battery. The
AC
current, which
is
gener-
ated by the generator, is converted by the regulatorirectifier into DC current. The regulator/rectifier is one
unit with two functions. The regulator prevents overcharging of the battery by grounding the excessive
AC
current. The rectifier changes the
AC
current, which
is
produced by the generator, to the
DC
current.
Al
l of these components work together
to
maintain a correct and constant voltage and to prevent the battery
from overcharging.
