3B-33 Differential:
Transfer Cable Inspection and Adjustment (LT-
A400F, LT-F400F)

Set the transfer selection lever to 4WD position and
inspect that there is no play in the cable. If there is any
play in the cable, adjust it in the following procedures.
1) Remove the speedometer cover (1) from the
steering head.
2) Loosen the lock-nut (2).
3) Turn out the adjuster (3) until resistance is felt, from
that position, turn out the adjuster one more turn.
4) Tighten the lock-nut securely while holding the
adjuster.
5) Reinstall the speedometer cover.
Transfer Cable Removal and Installation (LT-

Removal
1) Set the transfer selection lever to 4WD position.
2) Remove the speedometer cover (1) from the
steering head.
3) Loosen the lock-nut (2).
4) Turn in the adjuster (3) fully so that the cable obtains
enough play.
5) Remove the transfer selection lever from the
handlebars.
6) Unscrew the cap nut (4) from the lever and
disconnect the cable.
7) Disconnect the cable from the front drive
(differential) assembly side. Refer to “Front Drive
(Differential) Assembly Removal and Installation (LT-
A400F, LT-F400F) (Page 3B-4)”.
Installation
Install the transfer cable in the reverse order of removal.
Pay attention to the following points:
• Rout the transfer cable properly. Refer to “Throttle
Cable Routing Diagram in Section 1D (Page 1D-1)”.
• Inspect the transfer cable play. Refer to “Transfer
Cable Inspection and Adjustment (LT-A400F, LT-
F400F) (Page 3B-33)”.
