REAR
WHEEL
(P.!G!D
FP.AME)
The rear wheel has taper roller bearings and may occasionally require adjustment.
If the machine
is
placed on the rear stand, any slackness in the bearings can be im-
mediately felt. The lateral movement should be "hardly perteptible". The bearings
are heid in adjustment by locknuts and the lateral movement should always be checked
after the locknuts have been tightened. The hubs are packed with grease and only
require re-packing every 10,000 miles (15.000 kms.). The rim
is
19" in diameter
(WM2-19) and has a 3.50

tyre fitted. The spokes areof (our different head
shapes as in the front wheel and this should be noted when making replacements.
The brakes are

are
located on
a
mild

a
channel in the frame to
withstand the braking torque.
REMOVING THE REAR WHEEL FROM THE FRAME
Mudguard. Disconnect the rear light leads underneath the saddle, unscrew the
nuts connecting the mudguard to the frame and take
OH the mudguard.
TR5.
The mudguard of the TR5
is
designed to allow removal of the rear wheel and
it
is therefore unnecessary to remove
it.
Rear Chain. Depress the gear lever to make sure that the gearbox is not in neutral.
This prevents the chain rotating on the gearbox sprocket and falling OH when the
spring link is removed. Remove the spring link and clear the chain from the
rear
sprocket.
Brake Adjusting Nut. Unscrew this nut and remove the brake rod from the
lever arm.
