Removing the Engine from the Frame
I
Exhaust System.
P.eplace the exhaust pipe: and silencers
zs
an assembly and
ensure that all securing bolts are well tightened.
I
Petrol
Tank.
Replace the tank to the frame and ensure that a rubber pad is fitted
at each side of the connection, Connect up the petrol pipes.
I
Saddle
and
Twinseat. Position to frame and tighten the fixing bolrs.
Testing. Check that there is petrol in the tank, turn on the petrol tap, set the
controls and start the engine.
Run for a short time until the engine
is
warm and
then set the slow running on the carburetter. Finally check over
all
engine nuts
and bolts.

REMOVING THE ENGINE FROM THE FRAME
(RIGID FRAME MODELS)
Twinseat
or
Saddle. Remove the twinseat. If a saddle
is
fitted remove the front
I
bolt and tie the saddle back.
i
Petrol
Tank.
Turn off petrol taps, disconnect the petrol pipes, unscrew the four
tank bolts and remove the tank.
Exhaust System. Remove the exhaust pipe and silencer as an assembly on the
models 5T
&
6T by slackening the finned clip bolts and removing the silencer to
frame bolts. On the TR5 the exhaust pipe to head
is
released by unscrewing the
adaptors with a
"C"
spanner. Slacken off the branch clip bolt and remove the
silencer bolt when the system can be removed.
Torque Stays
(5T
&
6T).
Remove the nuts secuiing the stays to the cylinder head
bolts and slacken off the stays to frame bolt, when the stays can be disconnected.
The TR5 steady
is
made by utilising a front engine bolt through a clip which
is
fitted
to
the iower tank rail. To disengage, remove the bolt.
Control
Cables.
Disconnect the throttle, magneto (TR5 only) at the handlebar
and the air cable (5T
&
TR5 only) at the rear stays. Neatly loop the cable: as closely
as possible
to
their respective engine fitting.
Footrests.
Remove the
L.H.
footrest and detach the R.H. footrest and spindle by
simply pulling out.
Footbrake Pedal.
Unscrew the spindle nut and withdraw the pedal.

Primary Chaincase, Clutch, Alternator
and
Engine Sprocket. Remove
these parts
as
described on page
83.
Air
Filter, Battery Carrier and Battery.
Disconnect the battery lead and
remove the battery carrier clip bolt when the battery can be removed.
Remove
the carrier top nut and the two base bolts, when the carrier and air cleaner will be
released.
Primary Chaincase Inner. Unscrew the
rear
chainguard to chaincase bolt and

withdraw the chaincase from the shafts.

Oil
Pipes. Place an oil drip tray under the engine and disconnect the engine oil
pipes at the crankcase and the rocker feed pipe
at
the rocker box spindles.
