Fitting Spring Wheel
Dust Excluder Assembly,
R.H.
Fit the dust excluder with the concave side
facing forwzrds. ksemble the centre sleeve spring, sliding portion and chamfered
collar.
The chamfer on the coiiar should be towards the hub centre.
Slipper Roller,
L.H.
Turn the wheel over and
fit
the distance piece over the
spindle. Grease the slipper pads and
fit
the slipper collar.
Large Cast
Iron
Ring. This ring should be fitted over the guide box case, so that
it
abuts against the inner ring of the bearing.
Brake Anchor Plate Assembly. Hold the brake slightly towards the
"ON"
position by turning the brake lever, and
tit
the anchor plate assembly to the brake
drum.
Dust Excluder Assembly,
L.H.
Replace the dust excluder asembly with the
concave side to the front and secure with the two screws. Ensure that the wheel
spindle is in
its
topmost position and the brake anchor arm facing forward.
Fit the
split cotters into the groove and the frame anchorage lever onto the spindle.
RE-FITTING THE WHEEL
TO
THE
FRAME
The re-fitting procedure is exactly the reverse of the removal, but the
fitter
should
ensure thatthe anchorage lever tits into the channel on the left side chain stay lug.
Due
to
rhe close proximity of the wheel drum,
it
is
not possible to assemble the
spring link with .the two ends of the chain on the rear sprocket. To overcome this
difficulty, join the end: with a spare link inserted from the outside. Now turn the
wheel
so
rhat the spring link can be pressed in from the inside of the chain, pressing
out the spare link in the process.
