Rear Broke (Rigid
Wheel)
Brake
Drum
and
Sprocket. Examine the brake drum for scoring or ovallty.
If the drum needs skimming,
it
can be removed from the wheel by bending back
the tabs on the brake drum lock plates and removing the bake drum bolts. Re-
ke
placement
is
the reverse procedure.
If
it
should be necessary to skim more than
,010" (0.254
mm.) from the drum,
it
should be replaced by a new drum. Examine
the sprocket teeth for wear. The top of the tooth should be flat and approximately
ITS
$"
(3.2
mm.) across. When the teeth become worn, the profile becomes pointed
and sharp. Th~s condition
is
dangerous and damage to the chain is likely to follow.
