Temperature
The Temperature setting controls the operating temperature of the heated roller
while it is applying the laminate material to the card.
Range
50 to 210 °C
Increase Value
Increases the temperature of the heated roller.
Decrease Value
Decreases the temperature of the heated roller.
Laminate not adhering to the card.*
• Increase the roller temperature
Symptom/Solution
The laminate has visual defects such as wood graining
and cloudiness.

* Old or damaged laminate ribbon can cause similar problems. Make sure to inspect the
quality of the ribbon.
Patch Size
The Patch Size setting determines the distance the card moves from the point the
heated roller is lowered to the point where the heated roller is lifted from the
card.
• This setting controls both patch and topcoat materials.
• This setting is affected by the Card Registration Offset.
Range
250 to 4000 (mils)
Increase Value The heated roller remains down for a longer period of
time, and the laminate is applied closer to the trailing
edge of the card (or beyond).
Decrease Value The heated roller remains down for a shorter period of
time, and the laminate is applied further away from the
trailing edge of the card.
Laminate foil uses every other patch (skips patches).
• Decrease the patch size. If set too high, the foil will
advance past the following index mark.
Laminate applied to the platen roller.
• Decrease the patch size. The heated roller is staying
down past the trailing edge of the card.
The trailing edge of a patch is not adhering.
• Increase the patch size. The heated roller is lifting before
the entire patch is laminated.
Symptom/Solution
Topcoat material is not present at the trailing edge of the
card.
• Increase the patch size. The heated roller is lifting before
topcoat is applied for the entire length of the card.
