17.2 IMPORTANT NOTES ON CONNECTIONS
17.2.1 Terminals
Some devices may carry different idents, therefore please note the following:
Meanings
Terminals
0V = K- or D1
+12V = K+ or D2
Data Bus A = A or D3
Data Bus B = B or D4
17.2.2 470 ohm resistor
On each of the below diagrams, it shows that each device has a 470ohm resistor connected across the data
lines of each device.
We recommend that this resistor is in place on wiring connections over 300 metres; it is there to balance the
data (long distances can make the data communication become unstable).
On wiring connections below 300 metres you don’t need the 470ohm resistor connected, but it will not do
any harm in installing it anyway.
17.2.3 Notes on wiring extra devices
Each device can be wired in series from the PCX end station. However, it is recommended that you connect
the keypad as the first device at all times, as this is what the PCX searches for on initial power up (keypad
address 00), all other devices are ignored until they are assigned in the engineer menu.
17.2.4 Resistor Values
The resistor values are recognised as follows:
4k7 resistor = Yellow/Purple/Red
6k8 resistor = Blue/Grey/Red
470Ω resistor = Yellow/Violet/Brown
The PCX System recognises the following:
4k7: Alarm
4k7: Tamper
6k8: Mask/Fault (Not applicable on the PCX 26/SMS)
