6. Place the removed SFP module on an antistatic mat, or immediately place it in a static shielding bag if
you plan to return it to the factory.
7. Protect your line card by inserting clean SFP module cage covers into the optical module cage when there
is no SFP module installed.
Installing and Removing XFP Modules
The 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GE) XFP transceiver module is a hot-swappable I/O device that plugs into 10GE
ports (see the figure below). The XFP transceiver module connects the electrical circuitry of the system with
the optical network.
