Install the cylinder head

Cylinder head gasket

Cylinder Head
•
9mm bolts(1-6)
Torque 38 Nm or 28 ft lbs
•
6mm bolts(7)
Torque 10 Nm or 7 ft lbs
Note:
Tighten the tensioner bolt to the
correct torque.
Timing chain tensioner bolt
(10 Nm or 7 ft lbs)
Note:
Tighten the bolts in the proper
sequence as shown, in the
illustration, in 2 stages.

Timing chain tensioner
Lightly press the timing chain
tensioner rod into the
housing by hand.
While pressing wind it
clockwise with a thin
screwdriver (1) until it stops.
With the screwdriver still
inserted, install the tensioner
and a new gasket onto the
block.
The up mark on the tensioner should face
up.
Remove the screwdriver, make sure the
rod releases and tighten the cap bolt to the
specified torque.

(7 Nm or 5 ft lbs)
Checking condition of cam driv
e assembly:
With the tensioner rod fully extended, insert tensioner
into the block.
Lightly press the tensioner against the timing chain
guide
Check for a minimum gap of .25” between
m
ating surfaces of tensioner and block.
If there is less than .25” replace timing
chain, cam gear and both guides.
Remove tensioner from block and continue
with install procedure below
