7.4 Control Access to Machine Features by Pre-
registering Users
Overview of the Authentication and Accounting
If the authentication feature is on, you can manage users that can use this machine and limit features that can be
used by each user. In addition, you can perform accounting management for the service usage conditions of each
user.
Types of users
The users are separated as follows when the authentication feature is on.
Note
When the authentication feature is not on, users are separated as administrators and general users.
Machine administrator
A user that can register and change system settings as an administrator of the machine.
Machine administrators use a specially defined User ID called an Administrator ID.
Authentication user
A user registered to the machine or an external server. Each user ID is used for authentication.
Guest
A non-user registered to the machine or an external server.
Guests cannot use restricted services.
About management authorizations and Authorization Groups
Configure administration privileges for each user on this machine.
[System Administrator]
The user receives the same privileges as a machine administrator. However, the machine administrator password
cannot be changed.
[Account Administrator]
The user receives the following privileges.
Registration, deletion, changing (only passwords cannot be changed), and browsing (some operations may not be
possible due to settings) of user information
Registration, deletion, changing, and browsing of accounting
Changing of replacement for Account ID and the entry display of Account ID
Printing of accounting reports by individual user
[Authorization Group]
You can divide authorizations which permit operations for usage restrictions by group and register authenticated
users. Users who belong to Authorization Groups can execute the same operations as the administrator.
