Copying to a single workstation
CAUTION A setup configuration is model-specific. File system corruption can result if the
source and target workstations are not the same model. For example, do not copy the setup
configuration from an HP xw6200 Workstation to an HP xw8400 Workstation.
1. Select a setup configuration to copy. Power off the workstation. In Windows, click Start>Shut
Down>Shut Down.
2. As soon as the workstation is powered on, press and hold the F10 key until you enter the Computer
Setup (F10) Utility. Press Enter to bypass the title screen, if necessary.
NOTE If you do not press the F10 key at the appropriate time, you must restart the
workstation and press and hold the F10 key again to access the utility.
If you are using a PS/2 keyboard, disregard the keyboard error message that might appear.
3. If you are using a diskette, insert it now.
4. Click File>Replicated Setup>Save to Removable Media. Follow the instructions on the screen
to create the configuration diskette.
5. Power off the workstation to be configured and insert the configuration diskette.
6. Power on the workstation to be configured.
7. As soon as the workstation is powered on, press and hold the F10 key until you enter the Computer
Setup (F10) Utility. Press Enter to bypass the title screen, if necessary.
8. Click File>Replicated Setup>Restore from Removable Media, and follow the instructions on the
screen.
9. Restart the workstation when the configuration is complete.
Copying to multiple workstations
CAUTION A setup configuration is model-specific. File system corruption can result if the
source and target workstations are not the same model. For example, do not copy the setup
configuration from an HP xw6200 Workstation to an HP xw8400 Workstation.
This method takes a little longer to prepare the configuration diskette, but copying the configuration to
target workstations is significantly faster.
NOTE A bootable diskette is required for this procedure. If Windows XP is not available to create
a bootable diskette, use the method for copying to a single workstation instead (see
Copying to
a single workstation on page 37).
1. Create a bootable diskette.
2. Select a setup configuration to copy. Power off the workstation. In Windows, click Start>Shut
Down>Shut Down.
3. Power on the workstation.
4. As soon as the workstation is powerd on, press and hold the F10 key until you enter the Computer
Setup (F10) Utility. Press Enter to bypass the title screen, if necessary.
