Front Brakes: 4B-4
Installation
Install the brake caliper in the reverse order of removal.
Pay attention to the following points:
• Apply a small quantity of thread lock to the front brake
caliper mounting bolts (1).
: Thread lock cement 99000–32030
(THREAD LOCK CEMENT SUPER 1303 or
equivalent)
• Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts (1) to the
specified torque.
Tightening torque
Brake caliper mounting bolt (a): 26 N·m (2.6 kgf-
m, 19.0 lb-ft)
• After setting the brake hose union to the stopper,
tighten the union bolt (2) to the specified torque.
CAUTION
!
The seal washers should be replaced with the
new ones to prevent fluid leakage.
Tightening torque
Front brake hose union bolt (b): 23 N·m (2.3 kgf-
m, 16.5 lb-ft)
• Bleed air from the brake system after installing the
caliper. Refer to “Air Bleeding from Front Brake Fluid
Circuit in Section 4A (Page 4A-5)”.
• Install the front wheel assembly. Refer to “Front / Rear
Wheel Removal and Installation in Section 2D
(Page 2D-3)”.
• Check the brake fluid leakage and brake operation.
WARNING
!
Brake fluid, if it leaks, will interfere with safe
running and discolor painted surfaces.
Check the brake hose and hose joints for
cracks and fluid leakage.
Front Brake Caliper Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
1) Remove the brake pads. Refer to “Front Brake Pad
Replacement (Page 4B-2)”.
2) Remove the pad spring (1).
3) Remove the caliper holder (2) and rubber boots (3)
from the brake caliper.
4) Remove the caliper holder pin (4) and caliper holder
slide pin (5) from the caliper holder (2).
