Cylinder Head Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
CAUTION
!
Be sure to identify each removed part as to
its location, and lay the parts out in groups
designated as “Exhaust”, “Intake”, so that
each will be restored to the original location
during assembly.
1) Remove the cylinder head. Refer to “Engine Top
Side Assembly (Page 1D-13)”.
2) Remove the intake pipe (1).
3) Compress the valve spring with the special tools and
remove the valve cotters from the valve stem.
Special tool
: 09916–14510 (Valve spring compressor)
: 09916–14910 (Valve spring compressor
attachment)
: 09916–84511 (Tweezers)
4) Remove the valve spring retainer and valve spring.
5) Remove the valve from the other side.
6) Remove the oil seal with long-nose pliers.
7) Remove the valve spring seat.
8) Remove other valves in the same manner.
NOTE
Remove of valves completes ordinary
disassembling work. If valve guides have to
be removed for replacement after inspecting
the related parts, carry out the steps shown
in the valve guide servicing.
Assembly
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly. Pay
attention to the following points:
• Install each valve spring seat.
• Apply molybdenum oil solution to each oil seal and
press-fit them into position.

installer)
M/O: Molybdenum oil (MOLYBDENUM OIL
SOLUTION)
CAUTION
!
Do not reuse the oil seal.
