1D-30 Engine Mechanical:
Cam Chain Tension Adjuster Inspection

The cam chain tension adjuster is maintained at the
proper tension automatically.
1) Remove the cam chain tension adjuster. Refer to
“Engine Top Side Disassembly (Page 1D-10)”.
2) Check that the push rod slides smoothly when
releasing stopper (1). If it does not slide smoothly,
replace the cam chain tension adjuster with a new
one.
3) Install the cam chain tension adjuster. Refer to
“Engine Top Side Assembly (Page 1D-13)”.
Cam Chain Tensioner Inspection

Inspect the cam chain tensioner in the following
procedures:
1) Remove the cam chain tensioner. Refer to “Engine
Top Side Disassembly (Page 1D-10)”.
2) Check the contacting surface of the cam chain
tensioner. If it is worn or damaged, replace it with a
new one.
3) Install the cam chain tensioner. Refer to “Engine Top
Side Assembly (Page 1D-13)”.
Cam Chain Guide Inspection

Inspect the cam chain guide in the following procedures:
1) Remove the cam chain guides. Refer to “Engine Top
Side Disassembly (Page 1D-10)”.
2) Check the contacting surface of the cam chain
guide. If it is worn or damaged, replace it with a new
one.
3) Install the cam chain guide. Refer to “Engine Top
Side Assembly (Page 1D-13)”.
Cylinder Inspection

Cylinder Distortion
Check the gasket surface of the cylinder for distortion
with a straightedge and thickness gauge, taking
clearance readings at several places as indicated. If the
largest reading at any position of the straightedge
exceeds the limit, replace the cylinder.
