3.12 Starting and stopping the engine
WARNING: Always obey the correct procedure.
The procedure can cause death or injury if you do not do the procedure correctly.
Read and obey the related information before you do the procedure.
WARNING: Flammable gas.
Heat or sparks can ignite gas from the battery without warning. Explosion of the battery
or burns to personnel can occur.
Do not put heat sources near to the vehicle battery. Make sure that there is good airflow
through the work area when you do work near batteries.
CAUTION: PPE is mandatory.
This procedure can cause injury.
Put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when you do this procedure.
IMPORTANT:
• Do the recommended daily checks on the machine.
• Make sure that there is fuel in the fuel tank.
• Engage the parking brake.
• Put the lift control levers in the down position.
• Set the hand throttle to a moderate speed.
IMPORTANT:
Put these controls in the neutral position:
• Gear lever
• PowerShuttle
• High and Low-range lever
• Hydraulic control levers
• PTO mode lever.
IMPORTANT:
• Do not engage the PTO.
Start the engine
NOTE:
Start the machine from the driving position only.
NOTE:
Start the engine in a clean environment. Make
sure that there is good airflow in the work area
when the engine operates.
NOTE:
Do not short circuit the battery.
Turn the ignition key (1) to position (C).
