3.1.9 DPF regeneration
The diesel particulate filter (DPF) collects the soot particles from the combustion process to stop air
pollution. When the DPF is full, the regeneration process cleans the DPF.
Sensors monitor the exhaust pressure across the DPF. When the DPF is full, the system uses this data to
control the regeneration process.
There are 2 regeneration procedures, automatic and manual.
• Automatic regeneration is when regeneration occurs automatically when it is necessary, during usual
operation.
• Manual regeneration is when you manually command the system to regenerate. In some operating
conditions, the temperature of the exhaust system is not sucient to cause automatic regeneration.
NOTE:
If regeneration is not possible, or the function is not available because the digital display controls are
broken, speak to your dealer immediately. Do not stay in an area of fire risk.
The DPF warning lamp shows the dierent
operating condition of the DPF system.
• A - Regeneration is in progress.
• B - Regeneration not approved.
• C - Manual regeneration is necessary (flashing).
NOTE:
If the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) warning lamp
flashes (C) on the instrument panel, do a manual
regeneration.
