Cleaning and Maintenance − Scanner
Cleaning the Platen Glass and the Document Hold-down
Guide
For the Scanner to do its best job, the optical surfaces and drive rollers must
be kept clean.
At the beginning of each day, perform the following steps:
1. Open the Top Cover.
2. Lift out the Document Hold-down Guide.
3. Examine the bottom surface of the guide for dirt. If even small amounts
are found, clean the bottom surface of the guide with
Lens and Mirror
Cleaner 43P81
and a soft cloth.
4. Examine the top surface of the Platen Glass. If
any smudges,
fingerprints, or dirt are found, particularly on the surface of the clear
aperture, then clean the glass with
Lens and Mirror Cleaner 43P81 and a
soft cloth. Ensure that no dust or fiber particles remain on the glass
after cleaning.
5. Replace the Document Hold-down Guide.
Note: orient the foam pads toward you when installing the
Document Hold-down Guide.
6. Close the Top Cover.
Cleaning the Document Drive Rolls
At the beginning of each week, perform the following steps:
1. Open the Top Cover.
2. Examine the rubber rollers on the Document Drive Rolls. If the rollers
are dirty, clean the rollers with Film Remover 8R27 and a soft cloth.
3. Close the Top Cover.
