Making copies
Scanning strategies
Document quality is the primary factor that determines how to go through the
scanning process. The table below is a brief summary of how document
quality guides your approach.
Document quality Solution
Good quality − Line
drawings
Select Line as the Original Type.
Use Auto for Background
Suppression.
Make a copy.
Evaluate the printed image. Adjust the
Copy contrast settings, if necessary,
and make another copy.
Good quality −
(photos), continuous
tone color and
grayscale images
Select Photo as the Original Type.
Make a copy.
Evaluate the printed image. Adjust the
Copy contrast settings, if necessary,
and make another copy.
Mix of Lines/ text and
halftones, error
diffused images, or
continuous tone
documents
Select Mixed as the Original Type.
Make a copy.
Evaluate the printed image. Adjust the
Copy contrast settings, if necessary,
and make another copy.
