5 AC 800F Functional Description
5-12
Every slot (F1 ... F4) suitable for connection of a fieldbus module has four own
interrupts. They are priority controlled and allow for direct signaling of an
asynchronous event. A powerful interrupt controller together with an advanced
multitasking operating system are the main prerequisites for a rapid system response.
Additionally, every module slot has a parity interrupt which reports data errors of a
module to the central processing unit.
A data bus bandwidth of up to 100 MB per second is achieved through direct coupling
of the Ethernet and fieldbus modules to the address/data bus on the CPU board. A
high data throughput and a short system response time result from this.
Data integrity during operation is the prerequisite for trouble-free operation of the
plant. In order to achieve max. data integrity, the main memory has been equipped
with error detection and correction capabilities. Special checksums ensure that 1-bit
errors in a 32-bit data word are recognized and automatically corrected. 2-bit errors in
a data word will be recognized in any case and reported.
In order to enable future usability of the AC 800F controller for big projects, a CPU
board type PM 803F will be available, with considerably more RAM as compared to
PM 802F. Due to the bigger RAM and usage of another technology, however,
PM 803F provides a shorter data retention time when powered by the buffer battery.
Features PM 8902F/PM 803F
• Efficient super scalar RISC CPU.
• Coprocessors for system bus and redundancy link, can be plugged in slots E1
and E2.
• Main memory of the PM 802F static RAM, battery-buffered, allows for rapid
restart after failure of the primary power.
• Main memory of the PM 803F, synchronous dynamic RAM, battery-buffered,
allows for rapid restart after failure of the primary power. The data retention time
when battery-powered is reduced as compared to the PM 802F.
• Write protection for main memory, with programmable domains.
• Main memory with error detection and correction (EDC unit) automatically
corrects 1-bit errors and recognizes all 2-bit errors in a data word, for both CPU
and DMA memory access.
• Hardware configuration and diagnostic data are saved in the serial 16 kbit
EEPROM.
