5 AC 800F Functional Description
5-19
5.3 Switching on the AC 800F
The AC 800F basic unit consists of a housing with CPU board, one power supply
module and one Ethernet module.
A second Ethernet module must be plugged in slot E2 for operation in redundancy
mode.
Prior to switching the AC 800F supply voltage on check the IP address setting,
especially when restarting the AC 800F for the first time after adding or changing
Ethernet modules.
5.3.1 Checking the IP address
The setting on the Ethernet module in slot E1 determines the IP address used
by the AC 800F.
Check the coding switch for proper setting if you did not do the adjustment by
yourself. Refer to Section 6.2.3, Operating elements of 10Base2 module EI 801F,
Section 6.3.3, Operating elements of 10Base2 module EI 811F, Section 6.4.3,
Operating elements of AUI module EI 802F, Section 6.5.3, Operating elements of
AUI module EI 812F, Section 6.6.3, Operating elements of 10BaseT module
EI 803F and Section 6.7.3, Operating elements of 10BaseT module EI 813F for
details.
The coding switches are located at the top edge of every Ethernet module. A coding
switch determines the IP address. In Section 3.3.3 a distinction is made between IP
address settings for the standard, the special and the redundancy case.
Standard case
The standard case is valid if:
• there is no connection to other networks (stand-alone operation) and
• up to 14 AC 800F are used on a system bus and
• other nodes that may be connected to the same network are in accordance with
the IP address conventions described below and
• the respective Ethernet module is plugged in slot E1 or E2.
Set the coding switch of the first AC 800F to 1 and increase by one for each
additional AC 800F. From the tenth AC 800F on the characters A ... E havetobe
used. Do not set to 0 and F. The assignment explained above is not valid for position
0 and F!Position 0andFaredescribed below.
