12. Card Cage
Both Ethernet ports are equipped with a yellow and a green LED. The yellow LED lights up in case the port is c onnected with a
100Mbit network. The green LED blinks in case there is network activity.
The connectors used for both Ethern et ports are of the type R J45, w hich is com patible with standard R J45
cable co nne ctor. Straight (most common) as well as cross linked network cables can be used . The 2 ports
are functionally identical. Bo th ports are conn ected via the projector hub (Auto sen sing enabled).
RS232 serial communication
The communication interface of the DP 2K-12C/11CX s upports RS 232 serial comm unication. You can u se the RS23 2 input port to
connect a local PC to your DP2K- 12C/11CX projector. T his way you c an configure and control your DP2K-12C/11CX projector from
your local PC.
Do n ot forget to set the p rojector’s baud rate (default = 115200) to match that o f the co mp uter.
Advantages of using RS232 serial c omm unication:
• easy adjustmen t of the projector via P C (or M AC).
• wide range of control possibilities.
• address range from 0 to 255.
• sending data to the pr ojector ( update).
• copying data from the projector (backup).
RS232
An Electronic Industries Association (EIA) serial digital interface standard specifying the characteristics of the commu-
nication path between two devices using either D-SUB 9 pins or D-SUB 25 pins connectors. Th is standard is used for
relatively short-range communications and do es no t specify balanced control lines. R S-232 is a se rial control standard
with a s et number of cond uctors, data rate, word length and type of connector to be used. T he standard specifies com-
ponent connection standards with regard to computer interface. It is also called RS-232-C, wh ich is the third version
of the RS -232 standard, and is functionally identical to the CCITT V.24 s tandard. Logical ’0’ is > + 3V, Logical ’1’ is < -
3V. The range between -3V and +3V is the transition zone.
GENERAL PURPOSE IN/OUT (GPIO)
This female 37 p ins D-SUB connector can be used to send or receive trigger signals from other dev ices. These input/output pins
can be programmed by macros created via the Communicator touch panel. See user ’s guide of the Touch panel, section Macro
editor, for more information about this functionality.
