19. Start Pulse Generator
19.1 Introduction
Functionality
The purpose of the Start Pulse Generator (SPG) is to ignite the lamp with a burst of high voltage peaks. The SPG super imposes
high voltage pe aks onto the normal dc start-up voltage of the lamp supplied by the Lam p Power Supply. Once the lamp is s tarted up
and illuminating, the high voltage is removed and the lamp v oltage drops to the arc voltage. The high voltage peaks are added to the
lamp voltage by a su perimposing transformer whic h is in series with the positive connection from the LPS to the lamp. The negative
connection from L PS to lam p is direct and is connected to the c hassis at the lamp side. The full lamp c urrent passes through the
secondary of the superimposing transformer.

A Black marked cable lug. Has to be connected with the negative “LAMP OUT” pin of the LPS module.
B Red marked cable lug. Has to be connected with the positive “LAMP OUT” pin of the LPS module.
